Rome is the only capital in Europe that has conserved it's circuitry wall, with the merit of the pontifical state that respected the conservation of this wall which is about seventeen kilometers. This was constructed between 271 to 275 by Emperor Aureliano, completed by Leone IV (847-55) and Urbano VIII (1623-44) with inclusion of Vatican and Gianicolo. The doors of the wall are located on the principal roads which cause traffic in entering due to the severe control of the guards. Traditions and legends are the only reason that gave the wall of Rome Quadrata of Romolo. Knowing that this wall was once done with rituals of furrow which originated in Ethruscans tradition, forties the Palatino. |
