Transports in Rome
|
Rome is served by an integrated transport system of underground, bus and urban railway services.
The companies ATAC, COTRAL and FS (now TrenItalia) manage such services that cover the whole area of Rome.
The following map will help in having a comprehensive view of the facilities but please notice that
some stations have been omitted and that the map may not be up to date:
The tourist often comes by airplane, and for this reason we have added a small
section on airports
|
|
The city is served by more than 200 bus lines and urban railbuses, from 5:30 AM to 24:00.
Nightly service is accomplished by a reduced number of lines, from 00:10 AM to 5:30 AM; night bus lines
are marked with a N and are presented in the standard stop signs together with daily ones.

The Termini Station is the heart of the transport system in Rome. It is a cross for
(underground) metro A and metro B lines and is the main train station
in town.
A large number of bus lines start from here and, finally, a direct
train link with the Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" airport is available
that runs about avery 15 minutes approximately.
The ground level is dedicated to standard train areas; for the
underground lines stairs lead under that.

The Ostiense Station is both a metro and a railway station and many trains that
stop in Termini also stop in Ostiense.
Even if the Termini station is larger, consider using this important
stop if you have ascertained that your train is also available here.
